‘Pupils feel safe and their behaviour is outstanding.’
At Wilkes Green Junior School all of our educational visits are specifically planned in order to develop learning outside the normal school environment. We believe that these visits support, extend and further enhance pupils’ knowledge, skills and understanding.
All children have the opportunity to go on at least three educational visits each academic year. In the main, visits are planned to support teaching and learning in History, Geography and Science. In addition to supporting the curriculum, educational visits are also used to develop PHSE and Citizenship. More recently, our children have benefitted from visits to local places of worship in order to enhance their religious education.
The benefits of educational visits for your children are that they:
- Encourage children to appreciate the world around them.
- Encourage pupils to be more independent learners, more self-reliant and responsible citizens.
- Help children to express their views and opinions in a confident, well thought out manner.
- Help children to take into account and respect the sometimes differing points of view of others.
